Nick Cave: Amalgams & Graphts, 2024

Digitally printed wallpaper
288” x 160” Lobby Wall
100” x 340” Broadway Gallery

Created for Nick Cave as part of his exhibition.

Both of the wallworks created for Nick Cave: Amalgams& Graphts were developed as responses to his artworks.

As a standalone gallery, the Broadway wallwork intends to deliver the entire room as a poetic installation. The “garden wall” artwork is entirely made from source images of Cave’s Graphts and uses the curved wall to gently walk the visitor toward his sculpture titled Amalgam. As it turns the corner, the wallwork changes tone with an explosion of color.

Similarly, guests arriving to the gallery via the Lafayete lobby are greeted by a single artwork, so in this case the wallwork is used to identify the staircase that leads to the shows main galleries on the second floor. Again, the wallwork is made entirely from source images of Cave’s Graphts, but this time, specifically from the artwork to the left.
